In this blog, we are going to look at activities for kids with cancer. In short, we will look at activities that kids who are being treated for cancer can enjoy.
Activities for Kids with Cancer
Cancer and cancer treatment can put kids in a funk both physically and mentally. And it’s pretty understandable as to why this happens.
When this occurs, it’s great to helps kids refocus and get distracted with some fun.
Now, when you are a kid on chemo, you might not always be able to engage in the same activities that everyone else can. Sometimes, you have to worry about crowds, germs, too much sun, and other things that others don’t have to concern themselves with.
It’s alright though, there are still plenty of fun activities that kids with cancer can enjoy.
Let’s look at several really cool activities for kids with cancer.
1. A Day Trip to the Beach
When I was younger and going through cancer treatment, the smallest activities could mean so much.
Personally, I loved being outside when I felt good enough. And back then, I remember taking day trips to both the beach and mountains for a little outside getaway.
Some days, depending on how I felt, we didn’t even get out of the car. We just sat there in the parking lot with the car running, listening to good music, and enjoying the view.
A day trip to the beach or another favorite spot is cheap, safe, and relaxing.
Want to enhance this outing a little more? Make a trip to that favorite donut shop or ice cream place before hitting the road.
2. A Picnic
The classic picnic. I mean, how could a kid not like a picnic on a beautiful day outside?
So, next time your kid needs to refocus a bit and distract themselves, consider a nice picnic outside in the sun.
And as a former pro-picnicker, I’d suggest turning off the mobile devices.
3. An Online Concert
When I was growing up and on chemo, I remember at times being seriously limited on what I could and couldn’t do.
Back then, I loved music probably as much as I do now. But, going to a live concert just wasn’t an option.
Today, however, there are websites that allow you to watch your favorite musical artists perform live.
Yep, websites like StageIt.com, LiveNation, and SongKick.com offer great line-ups of some big-time artists.
Additionally, every Bamba Box care package for kids comes with a chance to win a concert. But, more on Bamba Boxes later.
Imagine, not even having to leave the house for your favorite live concert.
4. Photo Booth Fun
Photo booths are super fun, and they are also pretty popular these days.
Photo booths are used for all types of events. Events such as birthday parties, business events, off-therapy parties and will actually work perfectly for just about any type of event where people are looking to get crazy and take silly pictures.
Also, photo booths have come a long way. There are now interactive photo booths, photo booths made out of vintage VW buses, and of course the classic selfie booth.
How cool would it be to have a family party for a kid with cancer and rent a photo booth? Photo booths are a unique and fairly affordable way to have some serious fun.
5. A Greeting from a Star
Kids can get a bit star-crazed sometimes. But heck, so can adults.
How cool would it be for a child to get a little cheer-up message from one of their favorite actors, actresses, or singers?
Well, this is totally doable through Cameo.com. It’s a great service that allows people to connect with some of the biggest stars around and send video messages to friends and loved ones.
Consider making a young cancer patient’s day with a greeting from a superstar!
6. A Mail Order Surprise
Although last on the list, a mail-order care package for kids with cancer can be a smash hit with kids with cancer and with other kids going through a hard time.
Bamba Box care packages can be shipped directly to any kid anywhere in the United States. We ship to hospitals, care lodges, and basically to any address in the United States.
A Bamba Box is a gift box full of mystery surprises and can be shipped to kids ages 4 to 18.
Additionally, each Bamba Box comes with a personal letter from musician and four-time cancer survivor, Ryan Hamner. Also, each Bamba Box provides kids with a link and password to the member’s only area where kids can download free songs, and watch a couple of cool videos.
